Move to Spain from the US: What You Need to Know [+ Tips and Insights]

It finally happened. Our move to Spain from the US is complete, sort of. We started talking about the possibility of a move abroad six years ago and this week we arrived!

According to recent estimates, there are approximately 30,000-40,000 U.S. citizens officially registered as living in Spain. Spain has become increasingly attractive to U.S. expatriates due to its high quality of life, lower cost of living, and accessible visa options for retirees and remote workers. We are excited about the slower pace and having more life in our days.

There are now almost 70 countries that offer digital nomad visas that allow you to work from inside the country (and spend your money there) while earning your income from outside the country. Spain passed this law in 2023. This digital nomad option is what is allowing us to live and work in Spain.
